Description
The album is an experimental mix of atmospheric indie pop songs, dreamlike vocals emerging from a soundscape of reverb-soaked guitars and melodic synth lines accompanied by flawless production.
The songs are deceptively complex and, upon second listening, become much more rewarding. Lyrics wise, this is Hippo Campus at their most personal and heartfelt, as all four members demonstrate their gift for the subtle and poetic, Honestly featuring particular highlights such as Tomorrow seems to seep into the edge of nothing/ A blueish tinted, faded vision. The listener is invited to contemplate and evaluate with the band as they lay their souls to bare and cut straight to the core of melancholy emotion, opening themselves up for self-scrutiny.
