On-U Sound are announcing new reissues of early 90s classics by one of their flagship artists, the much-missed Dub Syndicate.
Probably the best knownDub Syndicatealbum, this 1991 set was recorded between Jamaica and London, with therock solid rhythms of band leaderStyle Scottaugmented by a number of additional players, including guitar fromSkip McDonald, vocals by
Lee Scratch PerryandAkabu, samples of the late, greatPrince Far I, and keyboardsfromKeith Levene.
It also marks a period in which the label was embraced as much by acid house afficianados as hardcore dub heads,with this album becoming a staple of the post-rave comedown session. The title track is a veritable On-U Soundanthem, mashing up reggae, tripped out electronica, The Doors and Motown into an epic groove, guaranteed to getcrowds moving from the sound system session to the festival field, and all points in between.
Out of print on vinyl for many years, this edition has been re-cut by Frank Merritt at The Carvery, with an innersleevefeaturing rare photography by Coneyl Jay and new liner notes by Rob Harris (Test Pressing).
