Released in 1989, Solo Piano is a collection of works from minimalist composer Philip Glass of unplugged piano music, recorded without overdubs or any other embellishments. The five tracks making up the Metamorphosis suite were largely written for a stage production of Franz Kafkas novella; Mad Rush was composed for a visit of the Dalai Lama to NYC; and Wichita Vortex Sutra is a co-write with beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
