In 1954 and 1956, Jacques Brels first liveperformances in the cabarets Chez Genevive
and Chez Gilles were transmitted on the radio.
In July 1965, at the peak of his career, Jacques Brel recorded a jam session at the Maison de la Radio, during which he delivered a movingrendition of Amsterdam, accompanied only byGrard Jouannest on piano and Pierre Sim ondouble bass.
This release also features a live recital recordedfor the program Discoparade at the Alhambra in1962, where the artist – now far from his modestbeginnings – is accompanied by a piano and astring ensemble.
