Mumford & Sons tightened everything on Babel. The hooks hit faster, the choruses rise harder, and the album pushes its acoustic drive with more urgency than Sigh No More without abandoning the band’s banjo, piano, and group-vocal lift. On vinyl record, it comes across as a more forceful and concentrated statement, built around momentum, strain, and release rather than open-ended ramble. That sharper edge is a big reason this record became the defining commercial peak of the band’s early run.
