The sessions reflect a return to a more hands-on approach, with Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney handling the mixing themselves, marking their first fully self-mixed release since Magic Potion.

“Beautiful People (Stay High)” presents a more open, mid-tempo track with spaced vocal phrasing, while “This Is Nowhere” moves with a steadier, more direct progression. “Don’t Let Me Go” slows the pacing with a more restrained delivery, contrasting with “Only Love Matters,” which returns to a more immediate, forward-moving arrangement.

The album also reflects the duo’s ongoing record-collecting influence, shaped by their Record Hang DJ sets built around vintage 45s.
