John Coltrane’s Ol Coltrane, recorded May 25, 1961, at A&R Studios in New York City, stands as the final album the revolutionary saxophonist made under his own supervision for Atlantic Records. Records debut Africa/Brass at Rudy Van Gelder’s Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey studio, the album represents a pivotal transitional moment in Coltrane’s artistic evolution.
