Quasimoto first came to life on Madlib’s personalbeat tapes in the producers early years in OxnardCA – private music, not meant for release, made forhimself and a small circle of local smokers andtheir car stereos.
The bad character MC alter ego of producerMadlib, Quasimoto released two albums on StonesThrow in the early 2000s: the underground hip-hopcult classic The Unseen (2000) and The FurtherAdventures of Lord Quas (2005).
The Unseen was among the new decades firstsleeper hits, ranking on Spins year end list at atime when the producer and label were unknownoutside hip-hop DJ circles. The FurtherAdventures of Lord Quas continued to buildMadlibs reputation as one of the most creative andfearlessly skewed creators in hip-hop.
In addition to his work as a solo artist, Madlib hascollaborated with Four Tet, Freddie Gibbs, J Dilla(as Jaylib), and most famously with MF DOOM (asMadvillain).
Yessir Whatever collects 12 Quasimoto tracksrecorded over a roughly twelve-year period.
The album is now released in a new silver vinyledition, with a silver foil peel-off sticker revealingQuasimotos guts.
