In a continuation of the Brothers Johnsons long-standing collaboration, Matt Johnson has scored his brother Gerards film, Odyssey (starring Polly Maberly and Mikael Persbrandt), released in UK cinemas 7th November 2025. Two tracks from the Odyssey soundtrack are available on this limited edition double A-side 7 vinyl single, Unrequited / Live & Let Live featuring previously unseen artwork by Matt and Gerards late brother, Andrew (AKA Andy Dog). Released by Cinola in partnership with earMUSIC.
Unlike Gerards previous films, Odyssey centres around a female protagonist. Though most of the soundtrack is instrumental, for the songs with vocals (these two singles), Matt felt it would be fitting to feature a female vocalist in this case Gillian Glover, who also sang backing vocals on Ensoulment. THE THE has a history of collaborating and duetting with notable female vocalists such as Neneh Cherry, Anna Domino, Sinead OConnor, Meja Kullersten and Liz Horsman. However, on Live & Let Live, it is the first time someone other than Matt has sung the lead vocal. Barrie Cadogan, THE THEs guitarist on Ensoulment, as well as for The Comeback Special and Ensouled world tours, also plays electric guitars on Unrequited.
