Sleater-Kinney was an acclaimed, American rock band that formed inOlympia, Washington in 1994. The band’s core lineup consisted of CorinTucker (vocals and guitar), Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), andJanet Weiss (drums). Sleater-Kinney were known for their feminist,left-leaning politics, and were an integral part of the riot grrrl and indierock scenes in the Pacific Northwest.

The Woods is the seventh and final studio album from Sleater-Kinney,released on May 24, 2005 by Sub Pop. It was produced by DaveFridmann and recorded from November 2004 to December 2004 atTarbox Road Studios in Cassadaga, New York.The Woodsreached #80 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart and #2on the Independent Albums chart. The album appeared at #4in The Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop critics’ poll for 2005.

The Woods is the only album that has not been remastered for the reissue, as it was the most recent recording from Sleater-Kinney, and originally mastered by Greg Calbi already.This reissue coincides with Sub Pops October 21st, 2014 release ofremastered versions of Sleater-Kinneys six other albums, as well as alimited-edition, deluxe vinyl box set featuring all seven albums.
