TheSin Of Prideis the fourth and final album to be released by the original line-up of The Undertones. The album, which was produced by Mike Hedges, was recorded between the autumn of 1982 and the spring of 1983. Unlike the three previous Undertones, which primarily consisted of guitar-oriented music,The Sin Of Pridedrew much inspiration from both Soul music and Motown.

The Undertones formed in Derry, 1975, the result of five friends (John ONeill, Damian ONeill, Feargal Sharkey, Billy Doherty & Michael Bradley) learning how to play basic rock and roll. Rehearsing in Damians bedroom eventually led to the band recording John ONeills Teenage Kicks in 1978, a record that became a favourite of John Peel. Over the next four years they released more pop gems like Get Over You, Here Comes The Summer, Jimmy Jimmy, Youve Got My Number (Why Dont You Use It!), Wednesday Week, My Perfect Cousin and Its Going To Happen!.
