CHAI kick off the new year with brand new single WHOLE.The new single is confirmed as the theme song for Japans public broadcaster NHKs new romantic comedy drama series Koi–senuFutari.
The track, produced by San Diego–based producer ScoobertDoobert, is a nostalgic and romantic J–POP track, charged with harmonies and melodies that draws influences from 90s Japanese TV drama theme songs. The lyrics, inspired by the TV series storyline featuring an aromantic/asexual couple, touches on the theme of universal and unconditional love. It speaks on the desire to accept one anothers differences, to love one another as a whole, and the wish to turn this anger into something beautiful a message that reverts back to CHAIs philosophy as an artist.
Yuuki, who penned the lyrics, says of this song:Sometimes, no one empathizes with you. But is that really a bad thing? I dont want to make my thing, or someone elses thing, something to be ashamed of. Because our differences may not be our enemies. I wish we could love each others little differences and little similarities entirely thats the hope behind this song.
